Pete is a mountaineer, skier, husband and father all while being a right leg amputee. Pete has climbed the highest mountain in North America, Denali and the highest peak in South America, Aconcagua. After years of dealing with heavy, homebuilt mountaineering prosthetics we teamed up with Pete to design and test a prosthetic engineered specifically for mountaineering.
“The mountaineering prosthetic from Summit Step is more than a beautiful piece of art, it excels in the high alpine on both firm or soft snow and fits a crampon or Vert more securely than any of my mountaineering boots. While other prosthetic feet flex and slip out from under me, the Summit Step prosthetic has solid purchase. Whether you’re setting the boot pack or following in someone else’s, you can trust it. It is hands down the lightest and strongest foot I’ve ever climbed with. I can’t wait to see where Summit Step will take me next.” - Pete McAfee
